With very deep roots in drag racing, M&H Racemaster has been a well known name among racers for many years. What started as a small business, turned into a booming industry of purpose-built race tires, and M&H continues to develop new products on a regular basis. The newest in the line of Racemaster slicks is a size that is yet to be developed by any drag racing tire manufacture. The 8.5/26.0-17 is the first of its kind, being a full racing slick designed for 17-inch wheels.
The sizing is perfect for modern muscle cars that use 17x8-inch wheels, and fits under most modern Mustangs without any modification to the brakes, suspension or body. Many modern muscle cars feature large diameter brakes, which require 17-inch or larger wheels. This has presented a problem for quite some time, when it comes to choosing race tires, but the new M&H slick for 17-inch wheels is a huge step in the right direction for gear heads. The M&H 8.5/26.0-17 is a breakthrough for modern Mustangs, but it’s also great for many more performance applications including vintage Mustangs running modern 17-inch wheel packages!
M&H already makes DOT-approved drag radial tires for large-diameter wheels, but this is the world’s first full slick for a 17-inch wheel. It features a soft compound, which makes for great traction at the drag strip, while the short sidewall keeps the tire stable on the top end.
