Presented for "Dedication in excellence in perpetuating an American automotive tradition," the Lee Iacocca Award celebrates auto enthusiasts on multiple levels, including character, community involvement, and integrity. It is one of the top honors in the automotive hobby, but especially so for Mustang enthusiasts due to Iacocca's involvement.
Mary Jean and her husband, Ken, have owned numerous Mustangs over the years, including Shelbys during the 1970s, then Saleens beginning in the mid 1980s . Mary Jean currently drives an '11 Shelby GT500.
MJ, as she is known to friends, has always been involved with clubs and shows. Her writing and organization skills led to her a job as managing editor at Mustang Monthly, followed by her current stint as editor of the Mustang Times.
After her daughters were diagnosed with breast cancer and she lost her brother to the disease, Mary Jean initiated a "Mystical Mustang" build based on a Dynacorn '67 Mustang fastback body. After the car's completion by R&A Motorsports, it will be used to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Visit www.mysticalbuild.org for more information.
Our congratulations to Mary Jean for a much-deserved award.
