Haynes Manuals' Project 50 '65 Mustang restoration is a celebration of 50 years of Haynes Manuals.  In the true spirit of Haynes Manuals, they knock it down to the bare shell and put it back together.  Here's how it's coming along.

The Haynes Manuals Project 50 classic Mustang convertible restoration, which was launched in October, is progressing along at a good clip with disciplined scheduling and execution.  Project 50 began in earnest with an evaluation of the car how to best approach the restoration.  Then, these folks went to work with a sharp eye on the end goal.  Project 50 is a lesson in how to manage your own restoration project.

When Project 50 began, it was completely stripped to the bone, with each part of the vehicle disassembled, evaluated, and inspected.  Its 289 V-8 engine has been completed rebuilt and is ready for action.  The greatest hurdle - the body - has been stripped of years of paint and been fitted with new Dynacorn sheet metal as required. The entire floor pan has been replaced long with other body parts damaged from rust.  Body is now in paint and ready for assembly.  Interior is being restored at this time.

Haynes wants your feedback and participation.  Project 50 is your chance to talk with Team Haynes, the professionals who are restoring this Mustang, directly by going to www.haynesproject50.blogspot.com.
