The fifth annual Shelby Bash will be held at the Shelby American factory on the grounds of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Jan. 13 – 16. The four-day event will include a scheduled appearance by Carroll Shelby, open track time at LVMS, contests, a cruise-in, and car show.
“Every year, the Shelby Bash becomes bigger and better,” said John Luft, president of Shelby American. “This year, we’ve added some fantastic contests of speed and skill, as well as a special tribute to the man himself – Carroll Shelby. While he doesn’t like to make a big deal about his birthday, Carroll has earned our loyalty over the years. He deserves all the attention.”
Baer Brakes will sponsor the new Baer Brakes Speed Shop Challenge. Drivers will charge as fast as they can for 1,000 ft. and then go as deep as possible into a 20- x 40-foot box. The person with the lowest elapsed time that remains straight in the box will win a $1,000 Baer Brake gift certificate.
The event will also include road racing, parties, a rally and factory tours. The public is invited to sign an oversized birthday card honoring Carroll Shelby’s 88th birthday that will be presented to him during the weekend.
From Shelby GTs to Dodge GLHs, Team Shelby embraces all vehicles built by Shelby over the past 46 years. Information is available at http://www.shelbyvegasbash.com.
“This is an opportunity to enjoy Shelby and Ford-powered performance machines at speed,” added Luft. “The event spans nearly three days and gives drivers a chance to showcase their talent behind the wheel, as well as strut their stuff in the City of Lights during the Cruise-In parade and car show.”
