The worlds of Ford’s iconic Mustang and U.S. Naval aviation join together in the new one-off “Blue Angels” Mustang GT, produced for the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The Mustang, which pays tribute to the centennial anniversary of naval aviation in the U.S. Navy, will be auctioned during the Gathering of Eagles charity auction, held the week of EAA AirVenture on July 28, to support the EAA Young Eagles organization and foster the education of the next generation of young pilots.
Inspired by the Blue Angels naval aviation performance demonstration team and their F-18 Hornet aircrafts, the Blue Angels Mustang features a Ford Racing supercharged 5.0L V8 engine (624 horsepower), handling Pack, and performance exhaust and brakes; custom paint courtesy of Creations n' Chrome; Blue Angels script and crest on the exterior and stitched into the leather Recaro racing seats; and Blue Angels script in illuminated sill plates and puddle lamps that project jet images when the doors open.
Mustang Chief Designer Darrell Behmer, Design Manager Melvin Betancourt, and Mustang Chief Nameplate Engineer Dave Pericak led the design and engineering team.
