Victor Anderson of San Jose, California owns a '66 Mustang that has been driven nearly 1 million miles coming up in Mustang Monthly. Look what he did to a pair of 289 High Performance exhaust manifolds.
If you've been messing around with Mustangs for any time at all, you know 289 High Performance engines have manual chokes and no choke stove in the right hand exhaust manifold. At one time, the 289 High Performance V-8 had an automatic choke in the '63 Fairlane. One year only, Ford employed a choke stove in the right hand 289 Hi-Po exhaust manifold. We'd like to see someone reproduce one. However, that doesn't seem to be in the cards at the present time because so few were produced to begin with.
Victor Anderson decided he wanted an automatic choke stove in his 289 High Performance exhaust manifold. He borrowed the choke heat tube stove from a 289 2V/4V exhaust manifold and had it welded to his reproduction Hi-Po manifold. Victor advises going to someone with the ability and equipment to weld cast iron, which takes special talent. Here's proof it can be done and the results are outstanding.
