You've probably seen this image before, yet it continues to inspire the imagination.
A trip to Ford Photographic some 20 years ago netted some really cool images from the Mustang's remarkable past. This is one of them. Trainloads of '65 Mustangs outside the Dearborn Assembly Plant at the historic Rouge complex awaiting departure to dealers all over the country. There are fastbacks, which places this image after August of 1964. It is obviously cold with snow on the ground, which places it in the winter of 1964-65. Further examination shows one car with styled steel wheels - which moves the calendar to late winter/early spring of 1965. Think about - your '65 Mustang could be one of these.
Ford's ad agency, J.Walter Thompson, took this idea, shot it in color, and put it in an advertisement.
