My '66 Mustang GT hardtop has made its way to the assembly area at Classic Creations of Central Florida, so looks like we're entering the home stretch for the completion of car's restoration.

66 console
66 seats

This week, I stopped by so I could document the assembly of the brand-new console, made possible by a new kit offered by National Parts Depot. With all components (except one) available as reproductions, NPD has packaged them together so make it easier to put together a brand-new '65-'66 console. The only thing missing is the front storage compartment light bulb retainer/switch, which is not available as a reproduction. However, Garrett Marks at Mustangs Etc. has a good one that he's sending to NPD to use as a sample for coming up with a repro.

Merv Rego also started the rebuild of the seats with new upholstery and foam from TMI products, along with new trim from Virginia Classic Mustang. Watch for articles about the console build and seat restoration in future issues of Mustang Monthly.
