Call this one the one that almost got away - a rust-free '68 Mustang convertible for sale for $5,500 everyone thought was a parts car. Worse yet, no one could reach the seller. Jim Reeves of Jim's Classics & Hot Rods in California's Central Valley decided to bite and wound up with a steal of a deal.
It was right there under everyone's noses - a classic Mustang convertible for sale on craigslist for just $5,500.00. It was described as a complete '68 Mustang restored back in 1996 with a busted shock tower. A couple of days later, the ad was changed to describe it as a parts car. In fact, it appeared the seller would scrap the car if it didn't sell. Yet, no one could ever reach the seller via the phone number posted. Jim's due diligence is how he wound up with this car.
For five grand, Jim hauled the car home to his shop and began work in earnest. Fixing the broken shock tower was easy for Jim and the only real problem with this rust free California convertible. Jim's convertible is on its way to glory.
When Jim finishes his replica Shelby project using Stang-A-Holics fiberglass, we will bring it to you in Mustang Monthly. If you have an interest in genuine Stang-A-Holics fiberglass for classic Mustangs, go to their website at www.stang-aholics.com.
