Last weekend's All-Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA, started out wet but ended up gorgeous.
Friday was a wash-out with a 100% chance of rain all day. That prediction proved correct, as the rain began before our Pony Trails cruise and lasting into the evening. No one ventured out into the rain to count the cars parked at CJ Pony Parts for the start of the cruise, but it was obvious that the number of Mustangs was about half the usual . Our thanks to those brave souls for coming out and sloshing through the cruise with us.
Also, many thanks to Jeff Bliemeister and Jim Krupa for once again handling the route. This year, we left CJ Pony Parts and headed west, ending up in a park just across the street from the Carlisle Fairgrounds, allowing show attendees and parts shoppers a quick entry into the facility.
Saturday was a complete opposite of Friday as beautiful sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s replaced the wet weather. Carlisle made a valiant attempt to line up of 45 consecutive years of Mustangs; we only saw a few gaps in models years. Building T contained the usual impressive display cars, including production Mustang #4, Sam Auxier's '69 drag car (as featured in the June issue), Lisa Sams' '91 SSP Georgia Patrol Mustang, Dave Birchmire's recently restored '70 Boss 302, and Don Fezell's old and new pair of Daddy Warbucks Cobra Jet Mustangs, one a '68 1/2 and the other one of the brand-new CJ race cars from Ford Racing.
