Some very unique and special Mustangs have surfaced recently, including 100004, production Mustang number 4.
The black '64 1/2 Mustang convertible was originally used at the New York World's Fair for Ford's Magic Skyway exhibit. A "survivor" that has been in storage for many years, the car is currently scheduled to appear at the All-Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA, on June 5-7.
The '69 CJ Mach 1 originally owned by Larry Shinoda has apparently surfaced as well. The current owner is awaiting Marti Report information that will identify the white Mach 1 as the car that Shinoda drove while working at Ford. It was used by Shinoda to prototype many of the graphics, including stripes, spoilers, and rear window slats, that found their way onto Boss 302s and other Mustangs.
We've also learned about a '70 Boss 302 that has been in storage since late 1970. Current mileage is 2,400. Boss experts are calling it one of the best preserved Boss 302s in existence.
Finally, it appears that the '67 Shelby GT500 that was originally owned by the late Jim Morrison from The Doors has surfaced after many years of storage in New Mexico. The car has a new owner and is currently undergoing a restoration.
Watch for features on all of these special Mustangs in future issues of Mustang Monthly.
