My '66 Mustang GT hardtop is ready for paint.
When I stopped by Classic Creations of Central Florida last Friday, Merv Rego showed me the car in primer and says it will go to the painter this week. Bodyman Danny said he spent extra time getting the gaps straight on the hood, doors, and trunk lid.
In a reversal of what happens to most Mustangs these days, Danny also filled in the A/C line holes. Since the car wasn't originally built with A/C, the car is being restored without it. So Danny welded up the holes in the radiator support and replaced the opening in the firewall with a piece of sheetmetal, complete with original-style dimples.
The next time I report on the restoration, the car should be back in its original Signalflare Red color.
