Project Reclaim from Mustangs Plus and The Restomod Shop heads toward completion.
If you've been wondering what the latest is on Project Reclaim - our back from the ruins full scale restomod project at Mustangs Plus/The Restomod Shop, wonder no more. Reclaim has hit a slow down due to the troubled economy. We've been waiting on parts that have been slow to arrive or didn't arrive at all. The Restomod Shop has also experienced a slow down in business during these rough times, which has adversely affected Reclaim's progress.
Reclaim is now a finished, painted, and partially assembled Mustang body ready for its engine and driveline. We've been waiting for Reclaim's five-speed transmission for quite some time. Our original source promised us a Tremec transmission, but never shipped product promised to us a year ago. We've found a new source for a Tremec five-speed with just the right gearing for Reclaim's 3.89:1 rear end and 350-horse 331ci stroker. We're optimistically awaiting its arrival.
Does Reclaim sound like your own Mustang project? Sometimes, we get bogged down in the details of what seems like a never-ending Mustang project, which becomes discouraging. For us, it has been the economy and a parade of back orders and "not shipped" notices. Manufacturers struggle to get it out. Suppliers have a tough time getting it shipped. In hard times, businesses don't know how to tell us they've hit the proverbial chuck hole of hard economic times or simply don't have the money to send parts. And that's what we've come up against with Project Reclaim a number of times. So, we wait patiently for suppliers to come through as promised, and find other subjects to cover in your Mustang Monthly Magazine.
Stay tuned for updates on Project Reclaim. And when it wraps up, you will get to see it in blazing color here in Mustang Monthly.
