The Ongoing Debate About Who Has The Earliest '65 Fastback

The debate continues on who has the earliest '65 Mustang fastback.

Time and time again, we get letters and emails asking us what the earliest known '65 fastback is.  We also get asked if there are any '64 1/2 fastbacks.  We have answers for your questions.

The earliest known '65 fastback is also the earliest known "K" engine code fastback - 5F09K250009 with a build date code of "01H" or 01 August 1964.  It has a DSO Code of 89 - Transportation Services, Ford Motor Company.  It is Rangoon Red.  This information comes from Volume 1 of the Mustang Production Guide, which was published in 1993.

There are no known '64 1/2 fastbacks known to exist.  In other words, there are no "D", "F", or "U" engine code fastbacks with generator charging systems.  In 30 years of dilligent research, no '64 1/2 fastbacks have been found.

If you have a '65 fastback that's earlier than 5F09K250009 on 01H, we would like to hear from you.
