Retired airline Captain and Mustang historian, Bob Fria, has his 5F07U100002 hardtop enshrined in the world famous Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, California.
Captain Bob Fria, several years retired from United Airlines after 35 years of service, has focused his retirement energy on a very significant slice of Mustang history - 5F07U100002, a Caspian Blue six-cylinder hardtop he faithfully restored to its former glory as a base sticker price $2368.00 Mustang ride. Bob's 100002 hardtop was assembled at Dearborn and shipped to Western Canada as a sales promotion unit where it wound up in a very obscure place known as Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory.
Bob is an extraordinary enthusiast because he has spent the better part of the past decade not only restoring this car, but doing as much research as he possibly could on the start up of Mustang production in 1964. His findings have been enlightening, settling a lot of mysteries and busting a lot of myths. His efforts cannot be measured.
You can imagine Fria's response when he was asked to display his 1964 1/2 pre-production Mustang hardtop in the world famous Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, California. If you've never been to this museum, you need to schedule a trip now. The Nethercutt Museum is a 60,000 square-foot facility that contains over 100 specialty automobiles that have been carefull restored or maintained to their original condition. We're talking Rolls Royce, Bentley, Packard, Duesenberg, Pierce Arrow, Ferrari, and a host of others.
Fria's First Production Mustang hardtop is on display at the Museum to celebrate the Mustang's 45th Anniversary where it will stay until summer of 2009. The Museum is located at 15151 Bledsoe Street off San Fernando Road in Sylmar, California and is free to the public.
