As a prelude to full photos that we expect to see within the next month or so, Ford has released a few teaser images of the 2010 Mustang, due in showrooms later next year.
The redesign for the 2010 Mustang is apparent right from the nose. "Everything flows from the shark-nose front; it sets up the direction and tension of all the surfaces," said Chief Designer Douglas Gaffka. "It's even more aggressive than before. It's a modern interpretation of the strong Mustang lineage."
The GT version embraces a stealthy persona, with dark headlamp bezels and grille surrounds highlighting the model. Also on the GT, the pony badge, which is redesigned to be a more muscular, is finished in dark chrome for the first time.
The 2010 Mustang seats feature upgraded leather and contrasting stitching for the Premier and Color Accent Packages. "We worked to create the perfect combination of form, material, and detail," said Color & Materials Designer Jennifer Atanasovski Schultz. "It's not only about the kinds of materials we used, but how we used them in conjunction with the sculpted forms that completes the Mustang experience."
Genuine aluminum trim panels precisely inset to and fully encapsulated by the soft-touch instrument panel demonstrate the attention to detail that went into the 2010 Mustang. The leather-wrapped steering wheel features genuine aluminum spokes, while the badge, which incorporates the new 2010 pony design, is genuine stamped aluminum.
Responding to customer feedback, the manual transmission shift knob on the Premier Package is round, reinforcing Mustang performance cues. Customers also can choose a leather-wrapped shift knob. "We listened to our customers and executed their wishes in a world-class manner for improved driving dynamics," said Gaffka.
