Using a carburetor spacer will improve performance.

From time to time, we're asked if you should use a carburetor spacer.  Carburetor spacers serve two basic purposes.  One - carburetor spacers isolate the carburetor from intake manifold heat.  Two - carburetor spacers increase air velocity between carburetor and intake manifold, which improves low and mid-range torque.  This gets you out of the light quicker, yielding strong "seat of the pants" performance when you're accelerating onto the freeway.
