Is it me, or is there just something incredible about the sound of Flowmaster Delta Flow mufflers?
I have to admit - it has taken me a while to select mufflers for my '67 Mustang hardtop. I also have to admit I've always been fond of Flowmaster mufflers for their deep, rich, throaty sound that can make the lamest small-block Ford sound like a Cleveland engine. There's a lot of competition out there for a company like Flowmaster - great sounding mufflers that give Flowmaster a run for the money. However, Flowmaster never took its eyes off the target in its research and development department. It continues to develop better mufflers.
The first set of mufflers I put on my '67 Mustang were Flowmaster three-chamber mufflers that barely fit underneath my Mustang. They were designed more for 1969-73 Mustang - not a '67. I was not happy with how the muffler shop installed them. So I used that unfortunate experience as an opportunity to regroup exhaust system wise. I ordered a complete Dynamax exhaust system from Virginia Classic Mustang and installed it in my home garage. That's how easy it was to install thanks to help from Brant at Virginia Classic Mustang.
Brant provided me with cool Dynamax Turbo mufflers, which sounded terrific, but weren't exactly what I was looking for sound wise. That's when I contacted Flowmaster about a pair of Series 50 Delta Flow mufflers also available from Virginia Classic Mustang. Flowmaster provided me with a 2 1/4-inch in and out pair of Delta Flow mufflers and guess what? I still get that same throaty sound without cabin resonance. At the back bumper, there's a nice throaty crack when I goose the throttle and a nice burble at idle like you might expect from a 351 Cleveland. They sound magnificent. Flowmaster Delta Flow mufflers, coupled with 289 High Performance exhaust manifolds, also available from Virginia Classic Mustang, give me the rich sound I've been searching for.
Thanks Brant! Thanks Flowmaster!
