Terry Fritts from the Twister Special Registry has announced the first-ever Twister Reunion in conjunction with the Midwest Ford Fest atKansas City International Raceway on September 13.
Designed as a homecoming for the Twister Special '70 Mach 1s, Torinos, and Rancheros; '85 Mustangs; and the new '08 Mustangs from R&A Motorsports, the reunion takes place at the same track where the original '70 Twisters were introduced in 1969.
For 1970, only 96 Grabber Orange Mustangs, 90 Torinos, and 4 Rancheros were built as Twister Specials, all sold in Kansas, Missouri, and northwest Arkansas. In 1985, 90 Twister II hardtops and convertibles were built in four colors. This year, R&A Motorsports revived the Twister Special concept by building 96 Mustangs with retro touches that play homage to the original Twisters.
The Midwest Ford fest, hosted by the Mid-America Cobra Club, is open to all cars with a Ford body or engine. Activities include a drag race, car show, and swap meet. For more information, visit the website at www.midwestfordfest.com.
