A special AV8R Mustang, modified by Ford with Ford Racing high-performance parts, is slated to be auctioned this week at the AirVenture Oshkosh event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Ford’s Mustang drew its name from the famous P-51 Mustang fighter, which played a vital role in World War II as a bomber escort. The iconic car and airplane are together at the world-famous AirVenture Oshkosh air show this weekend as Ford continues its commitment to AirVenture’s Gathering of Eagles youth aviation program, which assists young people interested in aviation-related careers.
Scheduled to be auctioned on Thursday, July 31, to benefit the Gathering of Eagles program, the one-of-a-kind Mustang AV8R features several enhancements from Ford Racing, including a Handling Pack, supercharger, and tuned exhaust. The Ford Racing additions are complemented by a Satin Silver paint scheme and a glass roof. An Air Force star is embedded in the glass to enhance the aviation-inspired look.
