During the early days of In Search of Mustangs, one of our readers found what is believed to be a Secret Service or FBI Mustang Mustang convertible in a Pennsylvania salvage yard.

Because this has been a long time ago - early 1980s - chances are virtually nil this car is still there.  One of our readers found a Raven Black 1965 Mustang comvertible in a Pennsylvania salvage yard.  VIN:  5R08K100127, Body 76C, Color A, Trim ____, Date 09K, DSO 83 (U.S. Government), Axle 5, Trans 5.

If you have read the Mustang Production Guide, Volume 1, you know 100127 would make this car a '64 1/2, yet it has a build date code of "09K" which made it scheduled for assembly on October 9, 1964. This is simple to explain. The order came in during summer of 1964. However, it was not scheduled for assembly until October. Have you seen any DSO 83 (U.S. Government) warranty plates in your travels?
