For the past two weeks, we’ve been on the road to Pennsylvania for the All-Ford Nationals in Carlisle and to Oklahoma for the Mid-America Ford and Team Shelby Nationals.
It’s tough work, but somebody has to do it.
So my apologies for the light participation in the forums this month.
Speaking of tough work, when have you seen a magazine editor lift anything heavier than a camera? At Carlisle, Georgia Ford dealer and noted collector Jacky Jones stumbled across an all-aluminum 428 FE engine – block, heads, and water pump. He snatched it up, or course, but ended up trading it to Bob Perkins for an undisclosed amount of rare Ford parts from Bob’s extensive collection. Thanks to Bob for snapping the photo of me holding the lightweight block.
Bob is researching the origins of the aluminum FE, and we'll report his findings here and in the magazine.
