It's June and we're headed to the airport for a flight to Tulsa, so that can only mean one thing: it's time for the Mid-America Shelby Meet.
This year, the Mid-America event incorporates the first-ever Team Shelby Nationals, plus the gang from the Boss 302 Registry is coming for their second Boss Nationals. The headquarters hotel was sold-out back in January, and organizer Jim Wicks says registrations have topped all records for the 34-year-old event.
The happenings actually kicked off yesterday (Wednesday, June 11) with open track at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. That continues on Thursday, followed by a cruise to the Brookside area of Tulsa on Thursday evening. On Friday, it's back to Hallett, with a Trade Show at the hotel that evening.
Saturday, the show moves out to the Tulsa drag strip for a day of quarter-mile runs, followed by the ever-popular banquet where everyone gets a door-prize. Sunday is the car show at the hotel.
And yes, Carroll Shelby is scheduled to make an appearance.
