The Copperback, a sleek ‘67 Mustang built by the Ring Brothers, has been selected by Jack Roush as the national winner of the Goodguys’ 2007 “Ford in a Ford” award, which recognizes an outstanding Ford vehicle with Ford power.
The latest accolade adds to the Ring Brothers’ collection of trophies, which includes the 2007 Street Machine of the Year award with their Reactor ’67 Mustang.
For the Ford in a Ford award, one vehicle is selected at each Goodguys national event around the country before a year-end winner is crowned. As the 2007 year-end winner, the Ring Brothers will receive a 515-horsepower Roush 402R engine and a pair of Roush Performance leather letterman’s jackets.
The Copperback, which gets its name from the custom blend burnt orange paint, was built as a personal car for Jim and Mike Ring “to enjoy and beat on,” Jim said. Powered by a fuel-injected 427-IR Roush engine, Copperback features over 70 custom-machined parts, Air Ride air-bags all around, a Total Control Products’ front end and rack, heavy-duty Tremec 5-speed, I Forge wheels, Baer 6-piston brakes, leather interior with Rockford Fosgate sound system, and an ample supply of Ring Brothers’ carbon-fiber body components.
